June 25, 1975, Police on patrol apottod a situation and went on to investigate it. It was reported that it was determined that persons unknown had attempted to burglar¬ ize a local business and that tho police on patrol chased them off.

June 29, 1975, Police are investi¬ gating the report of tires beinjv slashed at a local residence. It ap- peares there was no motive and the police ar continuing, to «ee the States Attorney ff any complaints were to be signed.
July 2, 1975, Police went to an area residence on the erport of a prowler call. A search was made of the area and police will contnue to watch for any persons in the area again.
July 2, 1975, Police were called to assist the McHenry County Sher- iKs jKilice in the investigation of stolen mail. Some madl was recov¬ ered and it was reported that it all came from the Chicago area. Postal investigators were notifed and the investigation  wUl continue.

The dead are Karen Strissel, 18, i(')06 Kathleen Drive, HunUey, who was alone in her car. John Hayes, ^49, 10226 S. 52 Ave., Oak Lawn, 11'., a passenger in a car driven by his wife, Marie B. Hayes, 45, <rf the same address, and nine year oid John Hayes Jr., son of the above mentioned.
Injured were Mrs. Hayes, broken leg, pelvis, and ribs. She was taken to the Sherman hospital; Margaret Hayes, 14, dislocated hip and broken teeth; Katherine Hayes,, age 4, minor facial cuts and Hannah M. Hayes, -Tge 11. The last two were treated an<l released at Sherman

the Ha\e<; car was South bound on Route 47 the Strissel car was North bound. In rounding the curve at thk^ point the vehicl ewerrt off tlie road¬ way to the right on to the loose gravel and came back over the cen¬ ter line, hitting the Hayes vehlcto had on.
In another 4th of July tragedy, an apparent drowning is reported by the McHenry County Sheriffs Dept. The body of Michelle Becker. 18, 1807 Woodlawn Dr., McHenry, was found in a creek east of Routs 12 in Salon Mills at 3 o'clock P.M. Miss Becker had been reported miss¬ ing by her father Gerald Becker of the same address. She had been last seen at midnight July 3rd.
