Board of Education
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consolidated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building May 18, 1989 at 7:30p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Board President at 7:36 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Ms Ahrens, Mrs McDonald, Mr Crabil, Mr Greve, Mr Heavey, Mr. Bauman, Mr. Freeberg. All Present joined in the plfedge to the flag.
1. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to approve the minutes of the April 20 regular meeting as written. 6 yeas, 0 nays, 1 pass motion carried
2. Mr. Crabill moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the confidential minutes of the April 20 executive session as written. 6 yeas, 0 nays, 1 pass Motion carried.
3. Mr. Heavey moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to accept the bid of Ideal Heating Co. to do the gym heating conversion project in the amount of $195,833.00. 7 yeas, 0 neys Motion carried.
4. Mr Greve moved, Mr Crabill 2nd to allow air conditioning unit(8) to be installed in
the nfth grade mobil units, at a cost not to exceed $4,000.00. 7 yeas, 0 nays. Motion carried.
5. Mr. Crabill moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to approve the completiom of the playground surface as follows: Cover Phase I and upper 1/3 of Phase II with 8" Oak Bark Mulch at $2520 and cover remainding with asphalt. 7 yeas, 0 nays. Motion carried.
6. Ms. Ahrens moved , Mr Greve 2nd to award the planning consultant contract to David Schmidt for $10,957. 7 yeas, 0 nays, Motion carried.
7. Ms Ahrens moved, Mr Heavey 2nd to approve the monthly agenda of bills and imprest. Education-$47,561.19; OBM-$17,191.46: Bond and Interest-$5,156.25: Transportation-$9,299.74. Yeas: Ahrens, Heavey, McDonald, Crabill, Greve, Bauman, Freeberg. Nays: none. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
8. Mr. Bauman moved, Mr Heavey 2nd to make an Interfund Loan of $34,000 to

the Operations, Building and Maintenance Fund from the working cash fund. Yeas:Bauman, Heavey, Ahrens, McDonald, Crabill, Greve, Freeberg. Nays: none 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
9. Mr Freeberg moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to approve the following Bus Driver rates, effective at the start of the 1989/90 school year: $10.00 per run for regular routes, $8.50 per hour for athletic and field trips. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
10. Mr. Bauman moved, Mr Heavey 2nd to accept the April 25, 1989 letter of renewal from School Insurance Fund for Long term Disability Insurance effective July 1, 1898 to June 30, 1990. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
11. Mr Crabill moved, Mr Greve 2nd to approve Continuing Membership in the School Employees Loss Fund, yeas: Crabill, Greve, Ahrens, McDonald, Heavey, Bauman, Freeberg. Nays: none 7 yeas,
0 nays, motion carried. 12 Mr Freeberg moved, Mr Greve 2nd to approve the adopted listing of textbooks for the 1989/90 school year. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
13. Mr Greve moved Ms Ahrens 2nd to approve the textbook orders for 1898/90 school
year in the amount of
$35,905.00. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
14. Mr Heavey moved, Ms. Ahrens 2nd to approve the starting salary hourly rates for classified personnel, effective for the 1989/90 school year. 7 yeas, 0 nays. Motion carried.
15. Mr. Crabill moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to allow the Superintendent to receive bids to provide milk for the 1989/90 school year. 7 yeas, 0 nays. Motion carried.
16. Ms Ahrens moved, Mrs McDonald 2nd to approve the band program for the summer of 1989. 7 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
17. Mr Crabill moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the personnel for the Summer School 1989. Yeas: Crabill, Heavey, Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Bauman, Freeberg. Nays: none. 7 yeas, 0 nays motion carried.

Girl Scout Camp
"Crazy days of Summer" was the theme of this years Winnebago Girl Scout Day Camp, held at Shabbona Hills in Harvard.
A total of 104 girls from Huntley, Marengo, and Union attended for five fun filled days.
The camp was run entirely by volunteers under the direction of Helen Smith and Kathy Purdom. Our week began with a hay wagon drawn by 2 percheron horses provided by Fox Valley Carriage Co of St. Charles.
Hats donated by Lloyds Paint and Paper, Lilly, Keytone, Dundee paint Co., Fancy Colours, Edward Hines, Sherwin and Williams, and Paint and Paper Place were decorated by all. Other crafts included clay, God's eyes, and picture frames for unit photos. Photos were provided by Photo Quick of Crystal Lake.
The girls planned and cooked meals over an open fire. A big thank you goes to Sally Origer, our shopper, who purcheised all the camps food thru Huntley Supermarket. Awards were given daily for Best Fire, Cleanest Unit, Best Menu, etc. Our "All Around Camp Award" went to Unit 1, run by Denise Banks, Judy Melman, and Chris Krause, all first year camp

volunteers. Some of the units'activities included: preparing a skit, hikes, games, learning basic fire building, badge work and unit fiags. All units participated in archery, earthball and parachutes.
Thursday night, fifty of our Junior Girl Scouts stayed overnight in the covered wagons and teepees. Norma Harlan, a very helpful volunteer, donated all the sweet corn for the dinner.
We wound up the week on Friday with an All Camp Picnic which parents were invited to. The girls participated in the camp parade, performed their skits and were suprised when Cindy Bauer, Suzanne Musgrave, Kathy Purdom and Helen Smith, the overnight adults, performed their own skit.
The committee then presented "Thank You" gifts to all the volunteers.
We closed the day with a Flag Ceremony and "Day is Done" was sung by all.
This week would not have been possiable without; Sue Horn, Sherri Vetter, Carol Parker, and JoAnn Rajisky. These women cared for all our volunteer's young children.
Thank you to all that helped make this years Day Camp memorable for the girls and
adults.
Hydrants will be flushed June 28 & 29 beginning at 10:00 p.m.
Landfill Policy Meeting
McHenry County Waste Advisory Committee will meet at 7:00 p.m. at the McHenry County Government Complex, Annex Building. Open to the public. The discussion for this meeting will be Landfill Policy Issues.
Minutes of the Village Board
The Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, June 8, 1989, in the Board Room of the Village Hall and was brought to order by President Dhamer at 8:45 P.M.
Present were: President Dhamer, Trustees Gow, Greve, Russ, Wicke, Hoeft and Borowicz. Also attending were Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel, Chief of Police Rossi and Building Inspector Schaller.
President Dhamer called for approval of the May 11, 1989 minutes, there being no corrections they stood approved.
The financial reports were examined. Trustee Wicke made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report as submitted, seconded by Trustee Borowicz. Expenses were discussed, a clarification of a dental bill was explained and Trustee Hoeft made a motion to accept all the bills and Trustee Greve seconded the motion, all Trustees voted aye and the motion carried.
President Dhamer announced that Ralph Hardy will not be present at tonights meeting, he will be here in July.
Next business was the Bernat Property. After much discussion and seeing that they complied to the changes the Village Board recommended, a motion was made by Trustee Hoeft and
seconded by Trustee Russ, then discussion continued. A vote was called by the President to adopt the Ordinance Authorizing the Execution of the Annexation Agreement. Roll noted the following: Russ, aye; Borowicz, nay; Hoeft aye; Wicke, aye; Gow, aye; Greve, nay. The motion carried.
