All members of tiie board were preaent. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved on a mot¬ ion by Mr. Jirik, second by Mr. Bein. All ayes. A motion by Mr. Bastian. sec¬ onded by Mr. Jirik, to approve tiie purchase of three typewriters for a maximum of $1140. earned, all ayes. . ' , , It was brough out that in May of 1967 the school had purchased 5 typewriters and other commercial department equipment for $3235.50 The board is retiring two electric typewriters at this time, tiie third one for the new secretary hired this year. A motion by Mr. Bastain, sec¬ onded by Mr. Jirik to award tiie gas bid for the school year 1968- 69 to littie Oil Co. of GUberts for 218 per gallon was approved, all ayes. Bids were also received from McHenry FSS for .2196 per gallon from Standard Oil Co. of Huntley for .22 and from Standard Oil Co. of Chicago for .22. KeUy. former treasurer ot the Credit Union, for tiie recovery of $120,000. Tbe OMTiplaint ask that Kelley be ordered to make full account of all monies received by hun, either Srom the oompany or mendiers of the credit union during the year^ 1957 through 1966, whether the fees be dessignated as legal fee, attorney fees, collection fees, loan service fees, rewrite fees or loan commi.ss- ion fees. A recent audit of the credit union books revealed numeriour discre pances in the treasurer's account during the period 1957-1966; loans loans made to individuals not eli¬ gible for membership; loans made without the approval of the majority of the credit committee; shortages in cash receipts: death benefit checks payable to the credit union cashed by Kelley and diverted to his own use; and other complaints. Mr. Kelley was cme of tiie foun¬ ders of the local credit union and served as its treasurer from its organization until late 1966, when an audit by the State of Illinois directm- of flnandal institittiona, indicated poor management practices, and he was relieved of bis duties. The children have been placed in the custody of their parents, and ordered to '*work out" the cost of the damage to Chamness vehicle. They have ranted aliout on foot or on bicycles after curfew hours, -^nd unknown to their parents who sup¬ posed they were in bed at home. When about to be apprehended by police officers citizens they hid in weeds on vacant lots and at one time behind the Catholic church until they deemed it safe to ven¬ ture forth again. Wild Weather Hits Huntley The severe electrical and rain storm which hit Huntley on Fri¬ day Pvcning*,' August 16, caused flooding of streets and water in basements of many homes whch never before had experienced flooding. The most severe electrical dam¬ age was to three "hot" wires on Woodstock Street Also on that street huge trunks were broken and cast into the street by the wind. In other areas smaller branches came down and muoh littering of leaves, etc. was noticed. A telephone wire was loosened at Church and First Streets. The building whi<^ housed tiie former parodiial school of the Trin¬ ity Lutheran Church was tourn down on Saturday, August 17, by the K. P. Bakley Cmistructlwi Co. The red brick buUding stood at the comer of 1st and Qumsh Str¬ eets and was tom down at 11:00 a.m. It was reputed that when the ro(^ of the building came down a huge cloud of duat arose into the air. When it settied, mice whidi had been Uving in tlie buUdii^ scattered in aU dii«cU(»s. The buUdlng was erected in 1912 under the leaderdi^ of the Rev. HuntleyPolice Quell Crowd Huntiey police were summoned to quell a distuxbance at Parkside Tavern Ust Saturday night at ap- proxhnately 11:30. Upofl anivteg on the scene Chief Nelson found ap¬ proximately 60 men between tfae ages of 2Ci and, 30„ dresaed Dl motorcycle attire. Mr. Nebion took a Thompson sub-machine gun from the trunk of the squad car and entered the tavern while two otiier Huntley Police officers covered him, one with a shot gun, the other wifh a service revolver.
