Harm, pas¬ tor o£ Trtoity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntley, was awarded the degree of Doctw of Theol<«y during commencement exercises at Amer¬ ican Divinity SdKX>l, Maywood, 111., January 29, 1967. Dr. Harm remains as instructor in The(^ogy at tbe school through the month of Fetmiary after which ills work will be completed. Meeting The ViUage Board met in regular session on Wednesday evening, Feb¬ ruary 7, at the Village Hall. All members were present with the ex¬ ception of Mr. Ernst Fitzi. Mr. Louis Schachtner, Road Com¬ missioner of Grafton townslup, was present at the meeting to report to the Village Board that he had re¬ ceived an inquiry to put a road into Mr. Oiarles ICries's property through the Art Garlieb property. This would, if constructed, would be an extension of tiie Algonquin blacktop we^ of Route 47. It was brought out that the entire road would lie within the IVz mile purisdiction of the Vil¬ lage Plaiming Commission and that any new construction for a road if it is to be used fbr a subdivision must meet the requirements of the Village ordinanct pertaining to sub¬ divisions. Mr. Schachtner stated that the proposed road could not be a townkiip road because it would not connect with any other township road. Village Attorney Cowiin stete<l that as far as the village is concern¬ ed, if a road were constructed to Mr. Kries's house which did not comply under tiie suixiivisioa control ordin¬ ance, it would be coosMered a drive¬ way. Mr. Sdiachtner stated that Mr. Kries had sold the property through wliich his driveway current¬ ly leads to his house at an earlier Contlnaed On Page Three Hobo Dinner The annual Hobo Dinner and show, presented by the Chancel Choir of the First Congregational (>hurch, will be an event of Sat¬ urday, February 24. The first serving and show will begin at 5:45 p.m. The second dinner and show will start at 7:45. Tickets for the two shows this year are being sold and reservat¬ ions taken by Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jirik, 138 Woodstock Street, phone 669-5821. The seating is being arranged so that tables may be reserved in advance. Reports from the Jiriks indicate that reservat¬ ions are being made very enthus¬ iastically and complete sell-outs are expected for both shows. March Of Dimes Police Report Members of the American Legion Junior Auxiliary will canvass Hunt¬ ley one night during this week for the annual March trf Dimes for re¬ seardi to comtMt birth defects. The Junior Auxiliary members hope you will open your door and open your heart when they call so that some time birth defects can be conquered. Coming Events The Music Boosters next board meeting will be held Monday, Feb¬ ruary 12 at 7:30 p.m. Pinal plans will be made for the Winter (Con¬ cert scheduled for February 19. All members are welcome. Jack Offenheiser reported to Hunt¬ ley police that a disassembled motor and block were taken from the trunk of his car while the car was parked at Jim's Citgo Service StaUon re¬ cently. There was no damage to the trunk, mdicatmg that the in¬ truders may have had access by means of a key. According to repu¬ table mechanics three strong per- sos would be necessary to lift the motor out of the trunk unless a hoist or other mechanical unit were used. The annual Tri-County Grade School basketball tournament will again be played in Huntley starting on Monday, February 12, through Friday the 16th. This event is an¬ nually spoTisored by the Huntley Lions Ovi) who provide the trophies and underwrite any expense not covered by sales of tfckets, etc. VoAgClass Mr. Ployd Fischbach will be guest speaker at the February 8th meeting to discuss milking equip¬ ment. The February 15th meeting is to feature guest speaker Dt H. P. Wessela, Kane County Veterinar¬ ian, to speak on the subject of Dairy Health. SkatingParty The Sr. and Jr. P.F. groups of the First Congregational Church and their leaders held a roller skating party on Sunday, February 4, to which they invited other young people of Jr. Hi and Sr. Hi ages in the community. The entire group of 84 Huntley area youth went to the Elgin Roller Ring, leaving Huntley at 6:30 p.m. and enjoyed skating ofr three hours. Transportation for the group was provided by 12 adults who drove their cars to take the skat¬ ers to Elgin. The party was very successful and the managers of the roUer skating rink complimented the entire group for their excellent behaviour and good sportsmanship. Adult leaders who sponsor the Sr. P.F. group are Mrs. Frank Ker¬ rick and Ed. Ream.
