Refreshments will be served by wives of the memtters of Ag¬ ricultural Education Committee. This years proceeds will be divide equally for F.F.A. work and the Agricultural Scholarship Fund. The sale is sponsored each year by the Huntley Consolidated Sch. The Agricultural Education Com¬ mittee is in charge of the sale of 34 F.F.A. members and one Ag¬ ricultural teacher for one days volunteer labor on Saturday Nov. 10. The minutes of^^ last meeting of October 12, 19^Pere read and approved. It was announced that there would be a Civil Defense Training Course in Cary in about three wks for anyone who would like to at¬ tend. The Budget reports were check ed. Terry Henning, President of our local F.F.A., along with Don Bar¬ rett, our Agricultural teacher, gave a report on the trip to Kan¬ sas City, Missouri for the National F.F.A. Convention taken by our chapter. It Has a well presiented report, and the Board thoroughly enjoyed it. A bid was accjepted from J. F. Patterson Co. to install the new fire door between tTie sfago and Coachs room as required by the State Fire Marshall. There was discussion regarding the necessity of purchasing a new school bus. Bids are being sent out this week for bus bodies and chassis. It was decided to help the grade school purchase on Opaque Pro¬ jector. This machine will project an enlarged image to a wall or screen, of any book. may. or such materal placed upon it. It should prove very useful in classroom in.struction. The grade .school will give part payment toward the cost and the Board will loan the rest, the balance to be repaid within the year by the Grade School and possible donations. Fund Trans¬ fers were made as required by law and all bills were approved paid. Supt. Thomas Kelly and Board Members, Miss Mackeben and Mrs. Kerwin plan to attend the Conference of the Illinois Associa¬ tion of School Boards and School Administrators as delegates of our school. It will be held at the Sher¬ man House in Chicago on Novem¬ ber 18, 19, and 20th. The next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, to avoid conflict with a school con¬ cert. Annual Music Festival b\ Roger A. Perley The Annual McHenry County Choral Festival will be Monday evening, November 12, 1962, at 8 p.m.. The concert is being held at the C^ary Grove High School, Cary Grove, Illinois. All of the public high schools of the county of the county of McHenry are par¬ ticipating in the festival. Huuntley Consolidated Schools has ten high school Senior Chorus members participating in the 100 voice Se¬ lect Choir, and an additional ten I>ersons participating with 300 other students in the Mass Chorus of 400 voices. Rehearsals for the festival will be on Sunday after¬ noon and Monday for the Select Choir members, and on Monday for the Ma.ss Chorus members. Miss Sadie Rafferty, of Evans- ton Township High School, Evans- ton, Illinois will be the guest di¬ rector. Mi.ss Rafferty is a recog¬ nized authority in the educational field of music. Recently, through her supervision, a television pro¬ gram was produced, the "MIK¬ ADO", an oppertta, by Gilbert and Sullivan. Hhe Mass Chorus will sing: "All in the April Evening," Roberton; "Roll Jordon Roll", Murray; Coun¬ try Style, Van Heusen; "With A Voice Of Singing", Shaw; "Alle¬ luia, Glorious Is Thy Name" Olson "We Hold These Truths", Jacob- son; and "The Lord Is My Shep- heard", Matthews. The Select Choir wdll sing sev¬ en additional numbers, they are: "Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord", Lekberg; "Glory to God in the Highest", Thompson; Roots and Leaves",, Williams;; "Gay Lit¬ tle Numph", Regnard; "Sing, Sing a Song for Me", Veochi; "Three Hungariah Folk-Songs", Seiber. and "I Love My Love", Hoist. ¦ The following is a list of dam¬ ages which happened over Hallo¬ ween. Twelve^MDutcs to ten Oct. 31 two men c|Hnnto the Huntley police statioi^md informed the officer on duty that a bridge was on fire. The Huntley firemen were called and extinguesed the fire. It was determined that the bridge was set on fira|^tb an inflamable liguid. — Tw^^s were placed in the road at t^T conor of Second and Mertil Halloween night. Logs were also placed on west Main St. between Route 47 and Lincoln. — A board with spikes driven throu¬ gh it was placed on Rt. 47 to catch unawairs motorists unaware and puncture their tires. — A bri«k was thrown at the Huntley Police garage. However no damage was reported. - - The cab of a truck was piled with ashes causing dam¬ age to the steering wheel, uphol¬ stering and front tire. - - The Hogs were let out of the F.F.A. farm projcctat the school on Halloween night, and Sunday the fourth of November. The people respon¬ sible also broke the gate and the feeder. — Hay was taken from the archery range at the high sch- cx)l and scattered over Rt. 47. The hay, however, was not lit as it is bleaved was the intention. •— On Halloween night there were 167 minors walking the streets trick or treating and acting as children normally act on Hallo¬ ween. — Punkins were thrown in yards, tomatoes at cars and one car was doused with a bucket of water. There were 6 extra pol¬ icemen on duty.It is bleaved that this is the reason damage was kept to a minimum. Parsonage Dedication The Rev. John M. Queen, Asso¬ ciate Superintendent of the Illinois Conference of Congregational and Christian Churches, will make the main address at a dedication ser vice for the new parsonage of the United Qiurch of CHirdst, Con¬ gregational in Huntley this Sunday November 11th., at 3:00 P.M. acc¬ ording to Mr. Albert Boncosky, Chairman of the Church's Board of Deacons. Perley A large number of Huntley chil dren celebrated Halloween at the Lions sponsored Halloween Party for crhildren, held at the Huntley Consolidated Schools on October 31, 1962. The costumes that the children dressed-in were judged by a panel, and first, second and third prizes were awarded per each grade level. Each child participa¬ ting was given a small gift con¬ nected with the occask>n of Hal¬ loween. Refreshments were served in the cafetetria; the refreshments were punch and a donut, and for the adults, coffee and a donut. The Lions and Lionesses of Himtley were the host. Prizes awarded according to grade level, in the order of first, second, and third were: for Pre¬ school, Kelly Bennett, Philip Don¬ ahue, and Jack Ernesti and Eliz¬ abeth Manning; Kindergarten, Tommy Palmer, Paul Ostrandir, and Diane Hintz; grade lA, James Henig, Donald Schiesher, and Jan¬ et Moeller; grade 1 B, Pamela Zimmerman, Diane Koppen, and Kathy Swanson; grade 2A, Don Heinz, Karen Borhart, and Kathy Svaboda; grade 2B, Nancy Kop¬ sell, Arthur Jaster, and Paul Mat¬ tingly; grade 3A, Glen Borhart, Charles Ernesti. and Mark (Js- trander; grade 3B, Jim Palmer, Heather Barrett, and Bobby Zirk; grade 4A, Patrick Donahue, Geo. There were 2 bids on the new street in front of the fire station.Kenneth Bakley having th low bid got the gob. There will be a special meeting November 15 to receive bids for the Church Street storm sewer. C^ief Burton was present and discusser his plans for running the department. Cooney, CONTINUED ON PAGE THREE School Health Notes The P.T.A. and the SchxA Board of Huntley Schools are again sponsoring the Eye Testing of all school children who are not at present wearing glasses. It will be held on onMday and Tuesday, November 12 and 13, At the school, and each child will receive a permit slip to be signed by Fri¬ day of this week and returned to the school office. This tesl is not a complete eye examination, but serves to help indicate if your child has adequate vision or should be further examined by a qualified optometrist or opthalmologist. Also on Wednesday, November 21, 1962 at 12:45 p.m. the McHen¬ ry Ctounty TB Assoc, is making available upon request, complete testing of all the children in our school who were not previtMisly done on Tuesday, November 6. This simple skin test is harmless, painless, and takes only a few sec¬ onds to give, but can determine whether or not your ciiild has any TB germs in his body. This test is free, and permit slips will be sent home next week. Our oidy hope is that you will su{^x>rt the sale of Christmas Seals whidi makes this service available to oor communlty. Village Board
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Village Board was called to order by president Wil¬ pault Brill last Thursday Novem¬ ber 1 at the village hall. Trustees present: Dellany, Fitzi, Wasser¬ strass, Enstrom Enstrom and Rudy Absent: Meyer. Tre minuztes of the October meeting were read and approved. The treasurer report was given. There were 2 bids on the new street in front of the fire station.Kenneth Bakley having th low bid got the gob. There will be a special meeting November 15 to receive bids for the Church Street storm sewer.
