Don't Forget To Vote For Gazebo This Week
By Tracey Schwartz
Don't forget to cast your vote at the Huntley Village Hall this week for your choice of reconstruction of • the Town Square Gazebo. Building Commissioner Butch Ehrke will be available on Thursday. March 3, from 5-7pm and on Saturday, March .5, from Sam-12pm to hear residents' suggestions, explain certain construction concerns, and absorb comments and suggestions as to which way to go with the reconstruction.
Huntley village officials are considering three different concepts for the reconstruction; 1) the original gazebo built circa 1910 as seen in historical photographs, 2) the gazebo as it stood in 1993 which was really a culmination of repairs and improvements over the years, and 3) the current architectural plan designed and donated by Bill Brown &
Associates of West Dundee.
The Village is offering the public the opportunity to vote for its choice and to discuss options with Ehrke. The voting ballot can be found in the February' 24th issue of The Huntley Farmside or residents can stop in the village hall and vote. Residents can also make an appointment to talk with Ehrke about the reconstruction. In addition, the Village is looking for people willing to volunteer their services in the reconstruction of the gazebo.
The original gazebo stood for almost a hundred years. The Village of Huntley wants to reconstruct a gazebo that will stand for another hundred years. That's a long time to look at something, so the community should put some thought into just how the gazebo is rebuilt.
Operation Snowball members participated in the Huntley Chamber's Expo by dressing as clowns and doing face-painting. These "clowns" are Laura Kohley, Tabatha Jetson and Dayna Frihart.

Commonwealth Edison requires a special use permit for a power substation in the PDD's Business Park section of Prime Development.
A presentation was made by the public affairs represent¬ ative of Commonwealth Edison. The site plan shows 1.044 acres, meeting PUD. The landscaping plan meets and exceeds Huntley requirements. Reference was made to a drawing showing the proposed additional transformer site.

1st National Bank of Marengo - Courtesy Site Plan Review
The Commission reviewed a drawing and aerial map of the proposed bank site. A presentation was made by the First National Bank of Marengo representatives. The location for the bank would be Rt. 47 & Dean St., N. of Fire Station 2. The site would be comprised of over 6 acres: with wetlands and set-backs, they would lose 2 acres. A sewer line has to be brought in.
Adminislrator Nelis referred to the current residential zoning and stated that rezoning would be required to B2. with subdivision into three parcels.
Further items for
consideration brought to the attention of the commission and the developer by Administratroer Nelis were the possibility of moving the driveway to the south to combine driveways; there will be no loading operation required; the 30-foot set-back requirement has been met; the 75-foot barrier requirement on the wetland area; sidewalk requirements; parking require¬ ments. The proposed building design includes 3,600sf and space for expansion (additional 3;600sf). Sewer lines have to be run to the site and to a series of sites along Dean St., at an estimated cost of $40,000, wilh a recapture agreement.
A suggestion was made that the Fire Station be shown on the plan for comprehensive review.
