Public Can Comment On Landfill/Balefill This Saturday
The only opportunity for area residents to voice their concerns about the proposed landfill/balefill on Rt. 47 in Lake-In-The-Hills, will happen this Saturday between 9am and 5pm at the LITH Elementary School, 519 Willow Street, LITH.

Huntley SHARE Pick Up This Saturday	
SHARE pick-up is this Saturday, Oct. 24th, 9-10am. Distribution will be at the Huntley Fire Barn #2 (corner of Rt. 47 & Dean St.).
If you did not sign up for a basket yet, you may come this Saturday to look at what you would be able to get for $13.00 and sign up for the November distribution.

SHARE will accept only cash or food stamps.
Persons who would like to speak at this session, must arrive before 9am and sign up on the list of speakers. Again, this is the only time during the hearing process that the public will be allowed to comment.
The Villages of Huntley and
Lakewood and LEAC II (Landfill Emergency Action Committee) have lead the fight against Material Recovery Corp.'s proposed balefill to be sited two miles north of Huntley on Rt. 47, during the LITH hearing process that began September 14th.
Mercer Wins 6 Awards At Jaycee Regional Fall Meeting	
Last weekend, Oct. 10, the Fox Valley Jaycee Region traveled to Sugar Grove to conduct the Fall Regional Meeting. Leadership, Community and Individual Development courses offered Jaycees an opportunity to expand their horizons during the morning session. At 2:00pm the General Meeting took place.
One member in particular, came home with several honors. You might have seen him hanging posters around the community in an effort to assist the Illinois State Police with a missing person. Perhaps you bought sweet corn from him at the Jaycee Sweet Corn Sale, or maybe you will recognize him at the upcoming Jaycee Haunted House.
Mark Mercer, Executive Vice President of the Huntley Jaycees, was presented with several awards. Mark was awarded the "Outstanding Special Person's Award for the Fox Valley Region." A limited
number of candidates are eligible for this award. Huntley Jaycee Mark Mercer was the recipient.
"Outstanding Officer for the Months of August & September, Outstanding Program Director for the Second Quarter, Outstanding Officer for the Second Quarter and Outstanding Community Development Project Chairman," are the other honors Mark brought home for his endless efforts in the Huntley Jaycees.
Just like the "Energizer Bunny" Mark keeps going and going and going.... Congratulations Mark, on an Outstanding Jaycee Quarter.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us..." (Ralph Waldo Emerson). The Jaycees have great belief in what Mr. Emerson quotes above. The Huntley Jaycees are a perfect example.
Local Businesses Donate Boole To Huntley First Graders	
First grade students in the Huntley Elementary School will all receive a beautiful gift-book titled My Favorite Book, thanks to The Village Inn Restaurant and James A. O'Connor Funeral Home.
The book is designed and written to bring "positive" influence into each of these
children's lives. It illustrates tiie beauty of their world and the people who are in it, especially themselves. The civic-minded leaders who are sponsoring this program see it as a valuable contribution toward the development of the young people in the community.

Lions Present Certificates Of Thanks
Huntley Lions Club representative, Darryl Gurnett, presents Huntley Pharmacy owner fpharmacist, Dick Frick, with a certificate of appreciation for placing a Lions Candy Can to accept donations in his store. Gurnett also presented six other local businesses with certificates of appreciation. They are: Huntley Supermarket, Union 76 f Express Convenience, Papa G's Restaurant, Ace Hardware, Sam's Sports Bar and Village Inn Restaurant.
Huntley Lioness Seek New Members
The Huntley Lioness are seeking new members to join the club. October is membership drive month throughout the State of Illinois, however, we accept new members all year.
The primary goals is helping the hearing impaired, but Huntley Lioness have sponsored many community projects.
Naming a few of the major projects in 1992 so far:
They gave $600.00 in scholarships to Huntley graduates and area College students.
They share costs with Huntley Legion Auxiliary for approximately 100 senior citizens to have a Christmas Dinner/Party.
They sponsor Huntley area Youth Bingo with prizes and refreshments.
They donated $325.00 to a 9-year old Dundee boy who has. a brain tumor. An additional $300 anonymous donation was made through the club.
They donate to the Miss Huntley Contest.
They purchased two hearing aids for a Huntley student.
They purchased an audio meter for Huntley School.
They sponsored one girl to mini Girl's State.
The meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. at the Huntley Legion Home. The October meeting, however, had to be changed to October 28th.
