This is Riedl's last year in 4-H. This fall she will begin her second year at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in Milwaukee. Riedl wants to pursue a career in Illustrating. Huntley's 4-H'ers had an award-winning day at the 1991 Illinois state Fair Aug. 14. Superior ratings are awarded at the discretion of the judges to entries they consider outstanding. Superior Award winners included: Tim Hoeft in Bicycle Safety and April Riedl in Visual Arts. Awards of Excellence went to: Denise Archambeault, Horticulture; Scott Dvorak, Electricity; Tim Hoeft, Bicycle Safety; Steve Morzos, Electricity; Ami Reed, Foods; April Riedl, Visual Arts; Megan Sunderlage, Home Furnishings; Kerstin Tures, Textile Arts; and Tina Wesemann, Visual Arts. Huntley Village Board Meets The Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held Thursday, August 8, 1991 in the Board Room of the Village Hall and brought to order by the President at 8:00pm. Roll noted the following present: President Dhamer, Trustees Sheehan, Borowicz, Russ, Hoeft, Gow it Becker, as well M Village Administrator Krauss, Village Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel, Police Chief Rossi it Public Works Director Nimbar. First order of business was * the minutes for the following meetings: July 11, 1991: Motion was made by Trustee Sheehan, seconded by Trustee Russ, to approve these minutes as written, roll noted all ayes and motion carried. July 15, 1991: Motion was made by Trustee Gow, seconded by Trustee Borowicz, to approve these minutes as presented, roll noted all ayes and motion carried. July 25, 1991: Trustee Russ made a motion to approve these minutes as submitted, seconded by Trustee Becker, roll noted all ayes and motion carried. President Dhamer questioned the Kunde drive which was one of the topics at the July 25 Committee of the Whole meeting. Public Works Director Nimbar advised the President and Trustee Hoeft had looked into the matter and found it to be in order. If Mr. Kunde found it necessary to redo, the village would waive the permit fee and only require inspection of the site. The bill review was next on agenda. It was requested by Trustee Hoeft that copies of the Kukla invoices be submitted to the trustees, which were not in their packet. Village Administrator Krauss will take care of same. Trustee Sheehan and Trustee Borowicz had questions which were satisfied, and motion was made by Trustee Sheehan, seconded by Trustee Gow, to accept the bill list for payment as presented, all ayes and the motion carried. President Dhamer brought the Lenny Hoffman Excavating invoice in the amount of $51,524.73 for Board approval. This being for the 4th Street sewer replacement. After discussion, a motion was made by Trustee Hoeft, seconded by Trustee Russ to approve payment thereof, roll noted all ayes and motion carried. The Treasurer's Report for July, 1991 weis examined as put before the trustees at this time. Trustee Gow made a motion to accept as presented, seconded by Trustee Russ, roll noted all ayes and the motion carried. President Dhamer read a Letter of Credit from the First American Bank for the Bakley 15th Addition for public improvements in the amount of $282,005.90. Village Engineer briefly examined, finding it to be in order. Time frame being July 17, 1991 to Jan. 17, 1992. Village Administrator Krauss' report was as follows: 1. He informed the President and Trustees that a binder has been furnished to each of them which has been issued to hold their financial reports for Continued on page . 7 By Jane Thompson, Huntley Librarian Huntley's library has acquired several significant collections, and volunteers are busy processing the books so that they will be ready to circulate when the library opens in its renovated facility in January. Concluding discussions are under way with the Schaumburg Public Library regarding acquisition of over 300 volumes devoted to Illinois history and social issues. Selected titles include: American Apocalypse: Great Fire and the Mvth of Chicago: Guide to Education in Illinois: Nazis in Skokie: Prairie Primer: and Lincoln: Slavery and Civil Rights, with topics ranging from sports, to pioneer history, to Chicago politics, to rural preservation. Oak Brook Radiologist, Robert Dooley, has donated his collection of 2,500 volumes to the Huntley Library. Dr. Dooley is an avid reader and his collection includes hundreds of recently published volumes of mystery and science fiction, as well as beautifully bound classics of world literature and history. In addition. Dr. Dooley's collection includes several of the Time Life series devoted to cities of the world, geography and many illustrated art history books, many of which are bound in leather. The Crystal Lake Public Library is helping the Huntley Library to develop a sound reference collection and, as such, has donated hundreds of superseded directories, guides to foreign and domestic travel, reference tools, such as Who's Who and the Thomas Register, computer guides, and Consumer Reports publications. Romance readers will appreciate the large collection of older romances acquired from the Niles Public Library. In addition, the Des Plaines Public Library and the Skokie Public Library have donated hundreds of new paperbacks ranging from Robert Ludlum thrillers to Danielle Steel romances. Huntley Library patrons and friends who might wish to help in the effort to process our acquisitions are invited to phone the library olfice at 669-5386. Teams of volunteers will work with coordinators Camille Cook and Eleanor Paarfusser several hours a week at times that are convenient to all. Book processing involves recording bibliographic information for the Library's records, putting pockets in books and covering dust jackets with plastic covers, as well as marking the spines of books with cataloging information so that the books may be shelved and retrieved easily. Library volunteers Camille Cook, Eleanor Paarfusser and Deiores Marcinek help process the Huntley Library's book acquisitions.
