Due to a change in Village Board policy, the minutes of the Village Board meetings will not be available for publication until they have been approved at the following month's board meeting. We regret any inconvenience this causes our readers. The Regular Meeting of Jan. 9, 1992 was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and - called to order by President Dhamer, at 8:00pm. Those present for the meeting were President Dhamer, Trustee Hoeft, Gow, BorowicE, Sheehan and Becker. Absent, Trustee Russ. Also attending Village Administrator Krauss, Village Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel, Building Inspector Ehrke and Public Works Director Nimbar. First order was the presentation of the Dec. 12, 1991 minutes. Trustee Gow brought an error in these minutes to the Board's attention, being the fourth paragraph on Page 2 in which "Lots should have read 83 lots to 70 lots, which was reversed in the initial presentation. Thereafter, he made a motion to accept same with the correction as above set out, seconded by Trustee Becker, and roll noted all ayes with the exception of Trustee Hoeft who passed and motion carried. The bill list after the Trustees' examination was approved by Trustee Becker's motion, seconded by Trustee Gow, to approve of their payment, roll noted all ayes, motion carried and the Village Administrator's office was to make payment of same. An additional expense W2is brought to the Trustees for their approval being the Arrow Road Construction invoice in the amount of $40,265.90 and as per Village Engineer Schwegel's firm has certified the invoice. A motion was made by Trustee Hoeft, seconded by Trustee continued on page 11 The Huntley Library is now open! Books are on the shelves, tax forms are available, children's programming has been developed, new encyclopedias and research materials are available, and lots of good books are waiting to be checked out! All library district residents are encouraged to stop by, check out a book, read a magazine, get a library card, or just visit with the library staff and trustees during the library's opening week. In addition, parents may register pre-school children for storytimes. A storytime for two-year-olds entitled "A Bear-y Nice Place" will be held on Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30am, beginning March 18th. The three-to-five year olds will meet on Fridays from 9:30-10am. This session, entitled "Spring Fling" will anticipate the upcoming season and will begin March 20th. Children's librarian Sharon Adams has developed each session to include crafts, music, or felt stories to accompany the featured books of the week. All children attending the library's storytimes must be registered in advance for the story sessions which will continue for six weeks per session. Parents of older children are encouraged to visit with the library staff about the 1992 Summer Reading Program, READ/DISCOVER, which will begin shortly after school is over for the year. Students should note that the library contains 32 volumes of the Social Issues Resources Series with information on such topics as energy, conservation, transportation, the criminal justice system, the atmosphere, AIDS and health. In addition, the library has purchased the Oxford Children's Encyclopedia which will provide younger students with up-to-the-minute information. continued on page 2
