| Title | 1960.27.1. Class of 1960 Reunion |
| Description | This 3-part interview includes the introduction, transcript, and audio file of Louise Cluts Byrum, a 1947 graduate of Graham Hospital School of Nursing, who was interviewed for the School’s oral history project on April 5, 2006. Biographical Summary: Mrs. Byrum entered Graham mid-year following her Canton High School graduation, since she was not yet 18 at the beginning of the academic year, an admission requirement. She chose Graham, which was close to home, due to gas rationing at that time. Following her graduation she traveled to New York City for a six month post graduate course in Medical-Surgical nursing. Interview Highlight: Mrs. Byrum discusses the polio epidemic and working with iron lung patients. She also mentions using the tunnel between the hospital and nurses’ home. She tells three stories from her student years that have stayed with her, including her special technique for keeping a patient from wandering. |
