Farmers in Bfflngham. Clay, Wayne and Edwards counties have practic¬ ally completed preliminary arrange- mp"-*. for orranitInK a cooperative poultry and egg marketing association with headquarters at Plora.
The plan includes securing a sub¬ stantial membership around local trading centers and bringing the poultry and eggs in to the district center over definite truck routes es¬ tablished by ths Assaciation—each producer to be paid according to kind. grade and quality ot products deliver¬ ed.
Farm people in these counties to whom tbe plan has been ontllned in considerable detail, have exhibited much Interest tn such a proposition. Nearly everything else that they now sell Is disposed of on the basis of grade and quality, and yet every salable egg goes simply as an egg, re¬ gardless ot the fact that some eggs at certain seasons actually sell for near¬ iy twice the amount received for other grades of eggs on the same market.
There are twenty-two such assoc¬ iations already organized and oper¬ ating successfully in Minnesota— each doing approximately one half miiilon dolairs worth of business per year. One association has already heen at work for neariy a yeur lu Ohio. The Flora Poultry Producers' Cooperative Association is being back, ed by the Farm Bureaus of the coun¬ ties named, and by the Illinois Agri¬ cultural Association. It is being modeled after the Minnesota and Ohio Associations which are workine; under conditions very similar to our own W. E. HART, Farm Adviser
