PROSPECTING POR LOCATION
On Priday, Feb. 26th, tho algners of the petition for night police and the members of the Commercial Club met In the upper rooms of tbe Flrsi National Bank. They ypok. up the discussion of the proimaal/ of the City Council to pay one-halt tbe cost of a night police, the business then paying tbe other half. Tbe meeting was called to order and the City CounoU's proposition put before ' Ithose present. It was voted not to accept same. A motion was tben put to appoint a committee of three to present to the Mayor and the Council the following resolutions:
To the Mayor and Commisslonera of the City of Flora, in the county of Clay and the state of Illinois:
Be it knowa that the Commercial Club of tbe said city" duly assembled at call meeting tn the assembly room ot the said club on tbe 25th day of February. A. D. 1981, on motion duly made and seconded, passed the following resolutions, via:
Be it resolved, that tt Is the sense of the members of the Flora Com¬ mercial Club of said city, that said City is now withoiM adequate police protection iduring the hours Jtrom six P, M, until six A. M. of each day; and be It further resolved that this Club appoint a commitee of three to wait upon the Mayor and Commls sioners ot said City and request that they constitute the City Street Com missloner day police with fuil power as city police and that they appoint and cause to be qualified a night police, to be on duty each and every night between the hours of six P M. and six A. M. with Instructions to diligently guard the business houses of said City against burglars and fires and to preserve the peace and good order of the said olty dur¬ ing these Iiours.

MERRY MATRONS MAKE MERRY
A delightful afternoon waa spent by the Merry Matrons on Tuesday of last week at the home of Mrs. R. J. Cunningham, on Fifth St. Mrs. Cunningham proved herself to be an ideal hostess, for seldom has tbe club enjoyed a more pleasant social hour. Tbe time passed all too qnickly with fancy work, music and conversation, that embra«ed all the topics of the day, from President¬ elect Harding's selection of a cabi¬ net to the latest extremes 1 n the atyle of hubby's (?) clothes.

CHARGED WITH BURGLARY
Ben Hinman, Oscar Hinman and a companion known as tbe "Candy man" were arrested by Sheriff H. N. McElyea and peputy Speaks this morning on complaint of Mrs.- Mar¬ garet DeWltt, Last Saturday while Mrs. DeWltt, who lives two miles west of Flora, was in the city some parties forcibly entered her house and burglarized an iron safe. The safe was wrecked with an ax and $80 was obtained by the thelves.
A warrant was Issued and the two Hinman boys and the "Candy man" were apprehended and lodged In JaU at Louisville,

. The C. H. Creagors delightfully Entertained their Bridge Club at their cozy home on Fourth street, Saturday evening. A pleasanb-even- ing was enjoyed. Tbe hostess served dainty refreshmenta of sherbet, cake and coffee.

TACKY PARTY
A thoroly enjoyable evening pass¬ ed at the H. S. gymnaalum Tuesday when the pupils and teachers plann¬ ed and carried out an old-fashioned tacky party. Old clothes, run down shoes, etc. were everywhere In evi¬ dence. Clara Mann and Edwin Meyer were prize winners for the most disreputable costumes.
Oames, contests and ample re¬ freshments were features of the evening.

In a Tory pleasing manner Mrs. Kelluma, tbe president of the or¬ ganization, was presented a beauti¬ ful solid gold pin.
She responded to the presentation in a ver^. gracious and appreciable manner. Mrs,' Greenwood's pin failed to arrive. In her modest way she accepted tbe kind wishes of her friends and replied, "Better late than never".
