SMALL CHANGES.
JHMlOB uat •• Ba^lcal u had bma
K« KtMird Of B«vicw of Aim««m»nt« completed tbeir Ubora iMt BatnrdKjr and (djonmed tine dine.
Below will ^be fonnd the resnlt of their labors In tabnUted form ihowlnfc the lucrcMM end decrexea in erery township. It wtn'be noted that none of tba changes ar* as radical as kad been •igjected, and as no qoestioa bas baen nriaad as to tbe |intaBtion of the Board to do abeolnt* jnatice to all taipayers, th* resnlt will no donbt be accepted aa fair to all interests. Tbe labors of the Board bare been ardoons, espsciallr so, in Tiew of tbe fact that all real estate assefisments most stand for tonr Tears.
Tbe highest iooreaaa, it will be noted, is twenty-five par ceat on lots in Bible Grove, while the largest deerssse is tweatj per cent decrease on lands in Xenia. This adjastment is in marked contrast to tbat of oar neighboring eonnty of Wayne in which the land ralne* wer* raised in every townahip in the ooanty, the increases ranging from thirty five to one hnndrvd and fifty per cant.
In Barter {township it wili ba noted the assessment of lands waa increased tea per cent, lots five per cent and per¬ sonal property fifteen per cent. Tbese inereases are probably fair as com pared with asseeaments in other tuwn ¦hips, and no serioas pmteat has been haard against them. In Stanford as wall as Xenia. it will ;be noted that the land assessment has been lowered, while in Clay City it has baen raised.
¦•WMBB SrawlBC Wall they eertalnly did come from tha noilh, soath, east aad west and from the siae of th* crowd some of tliam mnst bare ooiaa from abqrs. Ws mean the crowd at J. Bowman's tr*e drawing Isst Satarday. Tbe price offered was a Laarel Steel Range. The tickets for th* drawing had been distriboted abso¬ lntely free to every ons, tb* only con¬ dition being tbst aot more than two nnmber* shoald go to a family. For weeks tbe event bad been looked for¬ ward to and at an early hour tbe crowds began to gather. For mor* than sn honr before the drawing tbe street in front of tbe bnilding was practically impassable. The band belonging to Bradshaw's Players had been engaged for ths occasion and not withstandinir tbe intense best kept tbe orowd in good hnmor. The ladies of the H. E. charch serred bot biscnits and coffs* all day also absolntsly free, Hr. Bowman pay. ing all bills. Promptly at two o'oloek the drawing took place and 416 was the lacky nnmber. 8. M. Morrison, a farmer, living abont fonr miles weet of the city, held the lacky nnmber snd was awarded tbe prise. While there were some three thonsand disappointed hold¬ ers of nnlncky numbers yet everyone rejoiced in Mr. Morrison's go*d lack as he Is - a very worthy aad somewhat needy farmer. Tbea* big daya are oer - tainly a good thing for a town. While Mr BoitBan enjoyed a tremendoas trade, yet every other merchant in ths city profited by his enterprise.
