The annual banquet of the Flora Commercial Club was held in the U. B. church basement last Thurs¬ day evening at 6 o'clock.
The banquet was served by the ladies aid of the church and Was very flne. About 150 plates were laid, and the Club membera and their wtvea and sweethearts enjoyed thoronjrhly the fine repAst. Eld. U. S. Johnson gave the invocation pre¬ ceding tha baaquet.
In the absence ot President W. A. Karr, F. H. SImpaon presided In his usual tliorongh and efficient man¬ ner.
As toastmaater Mr. Simpson pres-i ented Prof. A. W. Jamison, of the University of Illinois, who gave a most excellent practical talk on community problems, espectally em- phaatzing the urgent need of greater schools and better roads, showing the close ties which tn reality bind the town and country people to¬ gether as one man for community progress.
Miss Mildred Hemmlcfc sang and ot course had to respond to the ap¬ plause with a typical southem song. Sbe always makes a "htt".
Splendid muatc was furnished by the orchestra led by Luke Pixley.
O. W. Arnold, of the Commercial Developement Department of the BAG. railroad, with headquarters at Baltimore, Md., gave an interest¬ ing, practical talk, showing what tho B. A O. is doing for Flora in the wair of employing labor and the Im¬ mense anffnal pay roll dispenaed here, amounting to more than one million dollara. )He expreased readl- ttesa to be always on the Job when Flora wakes np and fights for what she wanta and needs.
Division Freight Ageat J. W. Lindsay, ot Vineennea, made a nice little booster talk, and we hope soon to havo^ him with us. The speakers were eleit^d honorary membera of the Commercial Club, on motion of Col. Randolph Smith.
A committee at three, consistlna «t W. C. McCauley, H. F. Pixley and C ^. OJbaon, were selected by Mr. Simpson, to select officers for the «oml«g year, and thetr report was Adopted.

While here the Doctor was so favorably impressed with the advantagea and opportunities offered tn our city that he decided to locate here for the practice of medicine. He haa purchased Mre. Mary Arch¬ er's residence property on Wesi Pells St. and will take possession on or about Aprtl HO, at which time he and hts wife expect to become resi¬ dents ot oUr city. He will use a portion ot the reaidence property as aa office. Dr. Park graduated in 1894 trom the Louiaville Medical CoUsffe and has been engaged in the continuous practice ot his prof(«s- lonal at Flora. 111., for the -past twenty-flve yeara. He wtll engage In the general practice, but wtll give special attention to diseases ot the eye. Our i>eople wtll he glad to have Dr. Park and his wife as resi¬ dents of our city. —Paxton Register, Ford county, Illinois.
The above announcement that Dr. B. C. Park, Jr., and wife are to leave tnis city brings' to the people of Flora and vicinity sincere regrets. Dr. Parks was bom and reared here and tor the - past twenty-flve yeara has lieen one of our leading and SueeeaSful physicians. He and Mra. Park have been Identified with Flora's developement and will be missed by a large circle ftt friends.
Dr. Park was examining phyaiclan on the Loeal Kxemption Board in Clay county, resigning to accept a commission as lieutenant at Oreen- leat, Ga.. and continued tn the ser¬ vice until discharged at the close of the hostilities with Germany.
Mn. Park served as chief clerk on the Local Board for two yeare and performed the duties In a effi¬ cient manner.

MRS. RAY BESiRY ENTERTAINS
Mra. Ray Berry entertained wtth a delightful party April 8 at home on Fourth and Foater streets in hon¬ or of Mias Ruth Snyder who Sunday became the bride of Mr. Frank Burt et Wayne eonnty.
Mra. Berry's guests were the lady teaehera of the public schools and the event was a complete surprise to Miss Snyder. She waa-brought to the house on a suppose errand and on arriving \here found tbe teaehera aaaembled in a Jolly group. The rooms were decorated with hearts and cupids. As a token of eateem she waa presented with a beautiful cut glass water service and mirror plateau.
Delicious refreshments were serv¬ ed of sandwiches, coffee, pickles and fruit salad.

Arvery Curtis Porter,' son of Mr. and Mra. Janies Linden Porter, waa bom in Songer township. Clay coun¬ ty, 111., June 16, 1869. When a small boy he moved wtth hts parenta to Indtana and at the age ot 14 yeara he moved back into Illinois. He was married Nov. 21. 1894 to Miss Addle Miller, pf Oskaloosa, 111.
He united with the Christian ehureh when he was about 23 yeara of age and has since lived a consist¬ ent Christian life.
On August 18,1918, he waa strick¬ en with a paralytic * stroke trom which he partially recovered, Mareh 29, 1920, he was again stricken, and followed April 8, the third stroke from which he seemingly never re¬ gained consciousness. He paased away April -10, 1920, age 60 yeara, 7 months and 26 days.
He leaves a wife, one brother, W. P. Porter, of Oklahoma City, Okla., two sistera, Mra. >Sbtrley Davts, ot Xenia, III., and Stra. Bmma DavtS. ot Reverton, Wyo., and a host of rela ttves and friends to moum thetr loss.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder Johnson from the famtly home In North Flora. Monday morn¬ ing. Interment at Elm«v>od ceme¬ tery, Flora.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mra. J. Brittenback and Is quite a popular aad pleasing young lady and has a large circle of friends.
The groom is a son of Mra. Re¬ becca Nanw. of this city. He was la service during the World War and Is an Industrious young man. He is now employed by the J. F. Maxwell Wholesale Co., tn this city and tyss a "good position.
They were the recipient of many pretty and usetnl presents.
On Monday evening ot this week a six o'clock dinner was given for the happy couple at the home of Mra. Rebecca Naney on Elm and Maple streets.

An entrance waa gained into the rooms of Meryl Oahan and Park Cambom, Tueaday moming about nine o'clock at the C. M. Boswell Cafe. An Investigation waa made as soon as the robbery was discovered^ and the tollowing articles from Mr. Oahan's room were missed, two suits ot clothes, one lady's and one gent's watch, diamond stick pin. a 46 revolver, French coins and a number pieces of silver ware. A suit of clothea was taken trom Mr. Cambom's room.
On Monday evening two young fellows , about 18 and 20 years of age came to the restaurant and had lunch asking tor a room tor the night which vras assigned to them on the second fioor. It is presumed the next moming the yoang fellows burgaltsed the rooma, making their get-away on No. 68, as two men of thetr description tried to sell a nnm¬ ber ot the articles about that ttme.
Mr. Boswell is making every ef¬ fort to catch the ptlferera.

B. church basement last Thurs¬ day evening at 6 o'clock. The banquet was served by the ladies aid of the church and Was very flne. About 150 plates were laid, and the Club membera and their wtvea and sweethearts enjoyed thoronjrhly the fine repAst. Eld. U. S. Johnson gave the invocation pre¬ ceding tha baaquet. In the absence ot President W. A. Karr, F. H. SImpaon presided In his usual tliorongh and efficient man¬ ner. As toastmaater Mr. Simpson pres-i ented Prof. A. W. Jamison, of the University of Illinois, who gave a most excellent practical talk on community problems, espectally em- phaatzing the urgent need of greater schools and better roads, showing the close ties which tn reality bind the town and country people to¬ gether as one man for community progress. Miss Mildred Hemmlcfc sang and ot course had to respond to the ap¬ plause with a typical southem song. Sbe always makes a "htt". Splendid muatc was furnished by the orchestra led by Luke Pixley. O. W. Arnold, of the Commercial Developement Department of the BAG. railroad, with headquarters at Baltimore, Md., gave an interest¬ ing, practical talk, showing what tho B. A O. is doing for Flora in the wair of employing labor and the Im¬ mense anffnal pay roll dispenaed here, amounting to more than one million dollara. )He expreased readl- ttesa to be always on the Job when Flora wakes np and fights for what she wanta and needs. Division Freight Ageat J. W. Lindsay, ot Vineennea, made a nice little booster talk, and we hope soon to havo^ him with us. The speakers were eleit^d honorary membera of the Commercial Club, on motion of Col. Randolph Smith. A committee at three, consistlna «t W. C. McCauley, H. F. Pixley and C ^.
