The Sexton Manufacturing Com¬ pany people moved Into their new factory building, located on Second St., between Main and Locust, last Saturday. There are some detail work yet to be completed on the building, but It was thought this would not interfere with the operatives or machinery, and accord¬ ingly the transfer was accompllslied without accident Saturday and Satur¬ day night.
"The company, since Its location In Flora, and pending the erection of Its factory here, have been operating in the Wood building on North Ave, Saturday Mr, J. P. Schram, superin¬ tendent of the three Sexton plants at Fairfield, Salem and this city, came here wtth a force of men and the huge task of moving was speedily and successfully carried out.
Seventy-five ma^rtilnes are now in operation In the "^ew buUdlncr, and 75 more are to be added within a short time, and from 175 to 200 operatives will be given steady em¬ ployment. The tirm has a large government order for soldier under¬ wear, and hopes to be able soon to obtain a sufticlent force of women to be running at full capacity. The sani¬ tary conditions of the new factory are perfect, we understand, and the Becord Is glad to be able to say It be¬ lieves this factory offers a line op¬ portunity for women and girls to work and get paid for doing their "bit" of patriotism.

Mrs. George Gllley entertained a merry bunch of the younger set Mon¬ day evening at her home in honor of her daughter, Miss Daisy, and Miss Buth Wolfe, It being the birthday anniversary of both the girls. About thirty enjoyed the evening in games, music and a general good time. Dainty refreshments of cream and cake were Mrved, and the guests de- p,^rted after a most delightful evening expressing wishes for many glad re¬ turns of tlie day.
In Honor of tin. Dreppard
Mrs. Arthur Dreppard was tendered a surprise and house-warning at her \ft home on East Nortii Ave,, June Uth, by the Ladles Bible Class of the Methodist Sunday School, Mrs. Dreppard has recently returned to Flora, after a year's residence in East St. Louis. The high esteem in which she Is held by her Sunday School class was manifested by this most delight¬ ful social affair. The afternoon passed with conversation and music, after which refreshments of cake and cream were served.

Company L, ninth regiment, I. N. G, will be mustered In Friday, June 22, when Maj. Smith of Flora comes to Salem, At this time the men will undergo the necessary physical ex¬ amination. Assltfant Surgeon J, W. Wells is the medical examiner.
Drill for the company was held on Monday night in the Court House yard, at which time facings and fhe squad movements were taught. The next drill is scheduled for Saturday night-Salem Democrat,
