LEGISLATURE Summary of Important Measures That were Passed by the State's Law Makers The following are some of the bills ¦which have been passed by the legis- >'lature which adjourned June 17: Bill providing re(4Ulrements for county agriculture advisers and places maximum salary at $1,200. Bill making preliminary plans fo establlsbmen lOf college of veterinary surgery at University of Illinois. BUi retiulring payment of dog license to assessor when dogs are listed for taxation, outside of cities of 25,(i0(.> or more. Bill amending act concerning liens for stallion or jack service. Blil making It a misdemeanor to destroy food for human or animal consumptiim with intent to Intluence market prices. Bill revising act creating Farmers' Institute and making director of agri¬ culture and dean of agriculture at r. of I. directors ex-olHcio of state Insti¬ tute. Bill carrying »'0,(X10 to attorney f^eneral for dissolving defunct cor¬ porations. Bill carrying »125,000 for new stone 43ruslier at Chester prison. Bill carrying $5,490,000 to Univer¬ sity of Illinois. Civil Service bill, giving same pref¬ erence In original civil service ex¬ amination to world war soldiers as now held by civil and Spanish-Ameri¬ can war veterans. Bill directing the attorney general to dissolve UKi,OiX» defunct corpora¬ tions now carried in the state records. The Enimerson "blue sky" law, that Is Intended to put the wildcat corporations out of business. Bill authorizing drainage district commissioners to make additional as¬ sessments for additional Improve¬ ments. Blil repealitii; the act (rf W\' creat¬ ing the Little Wal.asli drainage dis¬ trict and the act of 1017 creating the Skillet Fork drainage district. Tlie woman's eiglit hour hill, es¬ tablishing tlie maximum numlier of hours per week during wliich women may be employed at forty-eight and the number of hours per day at eight with various excepllons. BUI authorizing the state to pur¬ chase certain deposits of novaculite near Tanims for road building pur¬ poses.
