LEGISLATIVE AGENCIES
(Senate Bill No. 1260, Approved, June 28, 1996)
(Public Act 89-501)
An Act making appropriations and reappropriations.
ARTICLE 1
Section 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
respectively, are appropriated to the President of the Senate and the
Speaker of the House of Representatives for furnishing the items provided
in Section 4 of the General Assembly Compensation Act to members of their
respective houses throughout the year in connection with their
legislative duties and responsibilities and not in connection with any
political campaign, as prescribed by law:
001-10120-1910-0900 To the President of the Senate ......................... $ 3,363,000
1900-1200 The Speaker of the House of Representatives ............ 5,546,000
Total.................................................. $ 8,909,000
Section 2. Payments from the amounts appropriated in Section 1 of this
Article shall be made only upon the delivery of a voucher approved by the
member to the State Comptroller. The voucher shall also be approved by
the President of the Senate or the Speaker of the House of
Representatives as the case may be.
ARTICLE 2
Section 1. The following named sums, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, respectively, for the objects and purposes h ereinafter named,
are appropriated to meet the ordinary and contingent expenses of the
Senate:
For the ordinary and incidental expenses of
legislative leadership and legislative
staff assistants:
001-10110-1910-0100 President ............................................. $ 3,860,000
0200 Minority Leader ....................................... 3,860,000
0300 For the ordinary and incidental expenses of committees,
the general staff and operations, per diem employees,
special and standing committees of the Senate and
expenses incurred in transcribing and printing of
Senate debate ......................................... 2,986,600
0500 For the ordinary and incidental expenses of the Senate,
also including the purchasing on contract as required
by law of printing, binding, printing paper,
stationery and office supplies ........................ 160,400
For allowances for the particular and additional
services appertaining to or entailed by the
respective officers of the Senate named in and in
accordance with the following schedule:
0600 President ............................................. 62,500
0700 Minority Leader ....................................... 62,500
0800 For travel, including expenses to Springfield of
members on official legislative business during weeks
when the General Assembly is not in session ........... 43,200
Total.................................................. $ 11,035,200
001-10110-1910-1000 Section 2. The sum of $517,800, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
is appropriated for the use of the Senate standing committees for expert
witnesses, technical services, consulting assistance and other research
assistance associated with special studies and long range resea rch
projects which may be requested by the standing committees.
196-10110-1910-0000 Section 3. The sum of $60,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
is appropriated from the General Assembly Operations Revolving Fund to
the Office of the President, to meet the ordinary and contingent
expenses of the Senate.
Section 4. The following named sums, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, respectively, for the objects and purposes hereinafter named,
are appropriated to meet the ordinary, incidental and contingent expenses
of the House Majority and Minority Leadership Staff and Office
operations:
