Observe Chicago Ridge Book Day Saturday
The Saturday after Easter
( April 4) has been designa-ted
as " Chicago Ridge Book
DayM by Village President
Arthur Cooper, On that day
all residents of the village
are asked to donate any books
they no longer need to the
newly- formed Library Com-mission.
The Fire House at
107th & Lombard will be a
receiving depot for the books

Monday
Civil Defense Adult Ed-ucation
classes will begin
next week at the Henry Ford
11 School, 108th & Lyman,
Chicago Ridge, according to
Richard Wangerow, Civil
Defense consultant with the
office of the Illinoi super-intendent
of Public Instruc-tion,
and John Oudsteyn, Ch-icago
Ridge Civil Defense
Director.
The classes will meet fr-om
7: 00 to 10: 00 p. m. Mon-day,
Tuesday and Wednes-day,
and will continue for
four weeks, Wangerow said.
Interested persons may re-gister
for the class on Mon-day
April 6th, Tuesday April
7th or Wednesday April 8th.
All adults and last semes-ter
high school students are
eligible to take the course.

If the volume of books do-nated
shows that Chicago
Ridge citizens are vitally
interested in a library, the
way will be paved for a sub-stantial
long- term loan of
books from the State Lib-rary
at De Kalb.
Therefore, the Library
Commission, as well as Pr-esident
Cooper and the Vi-llage
Board, urge all who
love books and wish to share
some of their books with
others to be as generous as
possible on Chicago Ridge
Book Day.
A few requirements for
donated books:
Must be in good condition
Text books not needed
Any books which cannot be
used by the Library will
be passed on to some other
agency which can make use
of them.
If anyone is without a car
and cannot get their dona-tions
to the Fire House, pl-ease
call GA5- 4134 and we
will see that they are picked
up.
The Library Commission
has been active for several
weeks since being appointed
by President Cooper and the
Board and th members ha-ve
had the assistance of Tr-ustee
Joseph Coglianese, un-der
whom the Commission
works directly. The Comm-ission
also wishes to ackno-wledge
the fine cooperation
given by Supt. of Schools
Eldon Finley and the School
Board under President Mar-garet
Lovejoy. DON'T FOR-GET.
